Apply the Magnetic Snap (Optional)

1) Attach the magnetic snap onto the right side of the front and back lining pieces following the manufacturer’s guide. Iron the interfacing on 1 1/2" from the top. Center the snap onto the interfacing. Use a pencil to draw a line where the fabric will be cut. Cut the line. Insert the prongs of one of the magnetic snaps into the right side of the lining. Secure the thin prongs on the wrong side of the lining. Attach the other magnetic snap on the remaining lining.

Make the Exterior and Lining

1) Place the exterior front and side pieces with right sides together. Pin and sew along the straight edges, see Picture 1. Leave a 3/8” seam allowance on each side at the bottom: this will make it easier to attach the side pieces to the bottom piece.

2) Attach the other side piece to the front piece. Leave a 3/8" seam on each side at the bottom.

3) Pin and sew the exterior back piece to the exterior side pieces with right sides together, leaving a 3/8” seam allowance at the bottom.

4) Pin and sew the exterior bottom piece to the front, back, and side pieces with right sides together, backstitching on the start and end point.

5) Trim the corner seams at the bottom of the bag. Press the exterior seam open.

6) Turn the exterior right side out. Fold the elastic in half to make a loop. Center the elastic loop on the top of the exterior back. Pin and baste.

7) Place the webbing handle piece on the right side of the exterior front piece 2 1/2” away from the center on each side. Pin and baste in place. Repeat for the exterior back piece.

8) Sew the lining in the same manner as exterior, leaving 5" gap for. Trim the corner seams at the bottom of the bag. Press lining seam open.

Assemble the Bag

1) Tuck the exterior into the lining with right sides together.

2) Pin and sew the exterior and lining pieces around the top opening of the bag.

3) Trim the side seams.

4) Turn the bag right side out through the opening and stitch it closed.

Finish the Bag

1) Tuck the lining into the exterior and press the top opening. Topstitch 1/8” away from the seam.

2) Attach the 1 1/2" button 2 1/2" away from the front top.

3) Attach the 1" button 5 1/2" away from the back top.

How to fold the Bag

1) Fold the bottom up towards the front.

2) Fold the handles down toward the front.

3) Fold the one side.

4) Fold the other side.

5) Roll up the bag from the bottom to top.

6) Hook the elastic to the button.
